Select low speed for larger diameter Bits, and a high speed for smaller ones.

Drills will usually have an Adjustable clutch to prevent overtightening screws, if so, set this to the drill setting (usually represented as a drill bit Icon) often past the highest number.

Some Hammer drills will also have a Mode selection switch to change between Hammer, Drill & screw. For drilling into wood, metal & plastic, select the drill mode, for masonry & brick, select the Hammer Mode.
